31 Days to Finding Freedom: {Day 9} The Truth

I wrote about truth speakers a few days ago, those people in our lives who help comfort and carry us to freedom. They are a necessary part of the journey, but they are also human. Fallible flesh.

There is another voice. A better one, one that is called ‘The Way, The Truth, The Life’.

We are all ears, willing to listen to both truth and lies alike. Are the voices surrounding you speaking freedom, or are they speaking bondage? Are those voices saying that you will always suffer from fear, that you will fail, that you are broken, that you will never be free of your addiction to food/sex/money?

Or does the voice speak that you are known and loved, that you do not live under condemnation, that you can experience freedom from fear, sin and even death. This is The Truth. If you are a Christ follower then you know this voice, it is still and it is small, but it is truth and it can silence the other voices clamoring for your attention.

If you aren’t a Christ follower, then let me simply say that this is the only way I know how to talk about finding freedom. I know sin and I know slavery to self. I know lies, but I long for liberation, and the cross of Christ is where I find it.

‘Then Jesus said, …you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free…therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.’ ~John 8:31-32, 36

What voices are you listening to, and where do you find truth?

This post is part of a 31 day series. I promise to return to my regularly irregular and non-cohesive posting in November. For my first 31 day post click here, for more 31 Day topics (and there are a LOT!) click here
