Freedom Friday

How often we fail to realize our good fortune in living in a country where happiness is more than a lack of tragedy. ~Paul Sweeney

I feel so immeasurably blessed to live in this country. A place where I am free from the fear of hunger and poverty and the panic of war. Despite our faults as a nation, I know that in America I will never fear that I can’t provide clean water or food for my children. I will never fear that my children will die of an easily preventable disease such as malaria.

For some time, I have been a part of the ONE campaign as they fight against extreme poverty, hunger, and global disease. I believe one hundred percent in what they are doing to end extreme poverty, the likes of which I will never know or see here. If you are interested in getting involved in something bigger than yourself, check out their website and think about joining them in their fight. If you’re looking for something more tangible and focused check out Charity:water. The fellow running this charity is located in NYC and will be coming to our church this summer to help us with our Glocal campaign to meet the needs of the world’s poor.

I thank God that I am free this July 4th! I am free to give out of my abundance and free to show His love to the least and the lost. Celebrate your freedom and get involved in something that will make an impact in the lives of others.

Happy 4th!
